Terms of Use
Version 1 · Effective 24 July 2026 · Applies to the ExpenseTracker Android app (com.dragon.expensetracker) and this website.
These terms are the agreement between you and Ninad ("we"), who builds and operates ExpenseTracker. You accept them when you create an account. If you do not accept them, you cannot use the app. The Privacy Policy explains what data we hold and is part of this agreement.
What ExpenseTracker is
ExpenseTracker is a shared expense record for exactly two people. It keeps score of what each of you spent and what that means for the balance between you. It never moves money. It is not a bank, a payment service, a lender, or a financial adviser, and nothing in it is financial advice. You are responsible for actually paying each other.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older. The app is not for children, and the AI feature described below may not be used by anyone under 18.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- Give accurate information, and keep your email address current — it is how you recover your account.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account.
Your content, and what your partner sees
Everything you record — expense descriptions, amounts, categories, group names, and the dates you choose — is visible to the person you are paired with. That is the entire point of a shared ledger, and it cannot be switched off for individual entries.
You keep ownership of what you write. You give us only the permission needed to store it, sync it between the two of you, and operate the app.
Do not enter content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, or that you have no right to share. Do not enter other people's personal information. Because descriptions are your own free text, do not put sensitive information in them — see the AI section below for one specific reason why.
Reporting content
If your partner writes something in an expense description that you believe breaks these terms, you can report it: open the expense, press and hold to see its details, and choose Report this description.
If an AI note on the Home screen is wrong, misleading, or inappropriate, you can report it from the information button on the note itself.
Reports go to a private queue that only we can read. The other person is not told that you reported something, and cannot read the report. We review reports and may remove content, or suspend or terminate an account, where these terms have been broken.
AI-generated notes
The Home screen can show a short note about your recent spending. The wording is generated by Google's Gemini model; every number in it is calculated on your own device from your own ledger.
To write that note we send a small, bounded summary to Google: category names, aggregate amounts for the period being compared, and up to 12 of the short expense descriptions you typed, grouped and shortened. We do not send names, payer or split details, exact dates, identifiers, gifts, reactions, or your full history. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
Generated wording can be imprecise or unhelpful. Do not rely on it for any decision that matters. The ledger itself — the amounts, splits and balance — is the authoritative record, and it is computed by the app, not by the model.
You can switch the notes off at any time in Settings.
Pairing is permanent
A couple in ExpenseTracker is exactly two people, and pairing is permanent by design. There is no unpair, no swap, and no third member. This is deliberate: the balance between you is derived by replaying your whole shared history, and that history has to stay intact for both of you to see the same numbers.
The consequence is that there is no way to block or remove your partner. If you no longer want to share a ledger with someone, your route is to delete your account. What happens to the shared history when you do is set out precisely in the Privacy Policy — read that section before you delete, because deletion cannot be undone.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to access another couple's data, or any account that is not yours.
- Do not probe, scan, or interfere with the service, or try to get around its security rules or rate limits.
- Do not use automated means to create accounts or generate activity.
- Do not reverse engineer the app except where the law says you may.
- Do not use the app for anything illegal.
Availability, and what we do not promise
ExpenseTracker is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, or free of errors. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. Because the app is offline-first, your own device holds a copy of your data, but keep your own records of anything you cannot afford to lose.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any financial decision you make on the basis of what the app shows. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop at any time by deleting your account — in the app under Settings → Delete account, or on this site at Delete your account.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that is used unlawfully, or where we are required to by law.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, the version number above changes and the app will ask you to accept the new version before you can continue. Smaller corrections take effect when published.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
